A Meeting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCEDEFGHGIGHJJJ JKJ KLJJLLJJMJJJNOPN

When all the splendour wanesA
Like a slow sunset from the changeful leavesB
And the grey time of rainsA
With hooded dawns and evesB
Approaches I shall come to you once moreC
Some afternoon of sun and sunlit cloudD
And knocking at your doorC
Await your soft and murmurous tread scarce heardE
For sudden pulses loudD
By long desire and many memories stirredE
So you will come and we shall meet againF
After the going down of many daysG
The death of many dreamsH
Under the gracious heavens of your gazeG
My heart shall lie as some autumnal landI
Fulfilled with aureate light and azure hazeG
The while we speak of themesH
Familiar or recall forgotten thingsJ
Telling of autumn and the fallen flow'rsJ
And the fled wingsJ
Lest love usurp our straitly guarded lipsJ
And the irrevocable word be saidK
That ends the wordless hoursJ
-
Unheard like petals shedK
In fields of poppy bloomL
The moments fall and turn to memoriesJ
Though Love foreseesJ
Here in the sunlit roomL
The ultimate night and silence of his doomL
But not too heavily the burden weighsJ
While your sweet gazeJ
Lingers upon me like a tranquil lightM
And all the murmured music of your voiceJ
Becomes an echo for the songless daysJ
And heart and soul rejoiceJ
Knowing your presence for a little whileN
But dare not tellO
how love has made this hour ineffableP
And dare not tell the dearness of your smileN
