Dame Spider. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCBB DDBB EEDD DDFF EEGG HHAA AADD

Little Dame Spider had finished her spinningA
Just as the warm summer day was beginningA
And the white threads of her beautiful curtainB
Tied she and glued she to make them more certainB
-
Dressed in her old fashioned feathers and fringesC
Then she sat down to wait on silken hingesC
Swung the light fleece with a moonshiny glistenB
Nothing for her but to watch and to listenB
-
Presently going off early to laborD
Bowing politely as neighbor to neighborD
When he caught sight of this little old womanB
Sailed by a honey bee serge clad and commonB
-
Are you so scornful because I am humbleE
Many a time your rich relatives BumbleE
Pause in their flying to chat for an hourD
She called out after him half gay half sourD
-
O no he cried I am off to discoverD
What I can find fresh in the way of white cloverD
But since your window is cosy and shadyF
I will sit down half a minute dear LadyF
-
Little Dame Spider arose with a rustleE
Welcomed him with ceremonious bustleE
Quick as a flash threw her long arms around himG
Heeded no buzzing but held him and bound himG
-
Tied knots so tight that he could not undo themH
Wove snares so strong that he could not break through themH
Then with a relish stood chuckling and grinningA
This is to pay me for my early spinningA
-
-
At the home hive the bees going and comingA
Kept up all day their industrious hummingA
Nor did it one of their busy heads botherD
That Madame Spider had dined off their brotherD
