Washing The Dishes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHI JJAA

WHEN we on simple rations supA
How easy is the washing upA
But heavy feeding complicatesB
The task by soiling many platesB
-
And though I grant that I have prayedC
That we might find a serving maidC
I'd scullion all my days I thinkD
To see Her smile across the sinkD
-
I wash she wipes In water hotE
I souse each pan and dish and potE
While taffy mutters purrs and begsF
And rubs himself against my legsF
-
-
The man who never in his lifeG
Has washed the dishes with his wifeG
Or polished up the silver plateH
He still is largely celibateI
-
One warning there is certain wareJ
That must be handled with all careJ
The Lord Himself will give you upA
If you should drop a willow cupA
