The Old Swimmer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK MNON PEFE

I OFTEN wander on the beachA
Where once so brown of limbB
The biting air the roaring surfC
Summoned me to swimB
-
I see my old abundant youthD
Whee combers lean and spillE
And though I taste the foam no moreF
Other swimmers willE
-
Oh good exultant strength to meetG
The arching wall of greenH
To break the crystal swirl emergeI
Dripping taut and cleanH
-
To climb the moving hilly blueJ
To dive in ecstasyK
And feel the salty chill embraceL
Arm and rib and kneeK
-
What brave and vanished laughter thenM
And tingling thighs to runN
What warm and comfortable sandsO
Dreaming in the sunN
-
The crumbling water spreads in snowP
The surf is hissing stillE
And though I kiss the salt no moreF
Other swimmers willE
