The Passionate Shepherd To His Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DDEF GGHH HHII GGBA JJBA

Come live with me and be my loveA
And we will all the pleasures proveB
That hills and valleys dales and fieldsC
And all the craggy mountain yieldsC
-
There we will sit upon the rocksD
And see the shepherds feed their flocksD
By shallow rivers to whose fallsE
Melodious birds sing madrigalsF
-
And I will make thee beds of rosesG
With a thousand fragrant posiesG
A cap of flowers and a kirtleH
Embroidered all with leaves of myrtleH
-
A gown made of the finest woolH
Which from our pretty lambs we pullH
Fair lined slippers for the coldI
With buckles of the purest goldI
-
A belt of straw and ivy budsG
With coral clasps and amber studsG
And if these pleasures may thee moveB
Come live with me and be my loveA
-
The shepherd swains shall dance and singJ
For thy delight each May morningJ
If these delights thy mind may moveB
Then live with me and be my loveA
