An Hour's Respite Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEFEDGHHFGGG

An hour's respite once more the heart may dreamA
the thunderwheels of passion thro' the eveB
distantly musical vaporously agleamA
about my old pain leaveB
nought but a soft enchantment vesper fableC
Sweet hour of dream from the tense height of lifeD
given back to this dear grass and perfumed shadeE
across the golden darknessF
I feel the simple flowerets where we stray'dE
in the clear eves unmix'd with starry strifeD
Ah wilt thou not even now ariseG
low laughing child haunting my old spring waysH
and blossom freshly on my freshen'd gazeH
sororal in this hour of tendernessF
an hour of happy hands and clinging eyesG
on silent heartstringsG
sweet memory fades in sweet forgetfulnessG
