Winter Rain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG HIJI KLKL MNMO PDQR SGSG

Every valley drinksA
Every dell and hollowB
Where the kind rain sinks and sinksA
Green of Spring will followB
-
Yet a lapse of weeksC
Buds will burst their edgesD
Strip their wool coats glue coats streaksC
In the woods and hedgesE
-
Weave a bower of loveF
For birds to meet each otherG
Weave a canopy aboveF
Nest and egg and motherG
-
But for fattening rainH
We should have no flowersI
Never a bud or leaf againJ
But for soaking showersI
-
Never a mated birdK
In the rocking tree topsL
Never indeed a flock or herdK
To graze upon the lea cropsL
-
Lambs so woolly whiteM
Sheep the sun bright leas onN
They could have no grass to biteM
But for rain in seasonO
-
We should find no mossP
In the shadiest placesD
Find no waving meadow grassQ
Pied with broad eyed daisiesR
-
But miles of barren sandS
With never a son or daughterG
Not a lily on the landS
Or lily on the waterG
