Winter: My Secret Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDD EFEGFHHFIIFBBBJJ KKLLL GMMNNGM

I tell my secret No indeed not IA
Perhaps some day who knowsB
But not to day it froze and blows and snowsB
And you're too curious fieC
You want to hear it wellD
Only my secret's mine and I won't tellD
-
Or after all perhaps there's noneE
Suppose there is no secret after allF
But only just my funE
To day's a nipping day a biting dayG
In which one wants a shawlF
A veil a cloak and other wrapsH
I cannot ope to every one who tapsH
And let the draughts come whistling through my hallF
Come bounding and surrounding meI
Come buffeting astounding meI
Nipping and clipping through my wraps and allF
I wear my mask for warmth who ever showsB
His nose to Russian snowsB
To be pecked at by every wind that blowsB
You would not peck I thank you for good willJ
Believe but leave that truth untested stillJ
-
Spring's an expansive time yet I don't trustK
March with its peck of dustK
Nor April with its rainbow crowned brief showersL
Nor even May whose flowersL
One frost may wither through the sunless hoursL
-
Perhaps some languid summer dayG
When drowsy birds sing less and lessM
And golden fruit is ripening to excessM
If there's not too much sun nor too much cloudN
And the warm wind is neither still nor loudN
Perhaps my secret I may sayG
Or you may guessM
