But only just my fun | E |
To day's a nipping day a biting day | G |
In which one wants a shawl | F |
A veil a cloak and other wraps | H |
I cannot ope to every one who taps | H |
And let the draughts come whistling through my hall | F |
Come bounding and surrounding me | I |
Come buffeting astounding me | I |
Nipping and clipping through my wraps and all | F |
I wear my mask for warmth who ever shows | B |
His nose to Russian snows | B |
To be pecked at by every wind that blows | B |
You would not peck I thank you for good will | J |
Believe but leave that truth untested still | J |

Spring's an expansive time yet I don't trust | K |
March with its peck of dust | K |
Nor April with its rainbow crowned brief showers | L |
Nor even May whose flowers | L |
One frost may wither through the sunless hours | L |
- | |
Perhaps some languid summer day | G |
When drowsy birds sing less and less | M |
And golden fruit is ripening to excess | M |
If there's not too much sun nor too much cloud | N |
And the warm wind is neither still nor loud | N |
Perhaps my secret I may say | G |
Or you may guess | M |
