Symbols Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBABA CDDCDC EFFEFE GHIGIG

I watched a rosebud very longA
Brought on by dew and sun and showerB
Waiting to see the perfect flowerB
Then when I thought it should be strongA
It opened at the matin hourB
And fell at even songA
-
I watched a nest from day to dayC
A green nest full of pleasant shadeD
Wherein three speckled eggs were laidD
But when they should have hatched in MayC
The two old birds had grown afraidD
Or tired and flew awayC
-
Then in my wrath I broke the boughE
That I had tended so with careF
Hoping its scent should fill the airF
I crushed the eggs not heeding howE
Their ancient promise had been fairF
I would have vengeance nowE
-
But the dead branch spoke from the sodG
And the eggs answered me againH
Because we failed dost thou complainI
Is thy wrath just And what if GodG
Who waiteth for thy fruits in vainI
Should also take the rodG
