I Will Arise Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBCDEDFF GHGHGIJIKJ LEMELGNGNN

Weary and weak accept my wearinessA
Weary and weak and downcast in my soulB
With hope growing less and lessC
And with the goalB
Distant and dim accept my sore distressC
I thought to reach the goal so long agoD
At outset of the race I dreamed of restE
Not knowing what now I knowD
Of breathless hasteF
Of long drawn straining effort across the wasteF
-
One only thing I knew Thy love of meG
One only thing I know Thy sacred sameH
Love of me full and freeG
A craving flameH
Of selfless love of me which burns in TheeG
How can I think of thee and yet grow chillI
Of Thee and yet grow cold and nigh to deathJ
Re energize my willI
Rebuild my faithK
I will arise and run Thou giving me breathJ
-
I will arise repenting and in painL
I will arise and smite upon my breastE
And turn to Thee againM
Thou choosest bestE
Lead me along the road Thou makest plainL
Lead me a little way and carry meG
A little way and listen to my sighsN
And store my tears with TheeG
And deign repliesN
To feeble prayers O Lord I will ariseN
