Good Friday Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDE FGFG HIJI

Am I a stone and not a sheepA
That I can stand O Christ beneath Thy CrossB
To number drop by drop Thy Blood's slow lossB
And yet not weepA
-
Not so those women lovedC
Who with exceeding grief lamented TheeD
Not so fallen Peter weeping bitterlyD
Not so the thief was movedE
-
Not so the Sun and MoonF
Which hid their faces in a starless skyG
A horror of great darkness at broad noonF
I only IG
-
Yet give not o'erH
But seek Thy sheep true Shepherd of the flockI
Greater than Moses turn and look once moreJ
And smite a rockI
