Consider The Lilies Of The Field Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBBDBEEFFGGCHI JKKHLLH

Flowers preach to us if we will hearA
The rose saith in the dewy mornB
I am most fairC
Yet all my loveliness is bornB
Upon a thornB
The poppy saith amid the cornB
Let but my scarlet head appearD
And I am held in scornB
Yet juice of subtle virtue liesE
Within my cup of curious dyesE
The lilies say Behold how weF
Preach without words of purityF
The violets whisper from the shadeG
Which their own leaves have madeG
Men scent our fragrance on the airC
Yet take no heedH
Of humble lessons we would readI
-
But not alone the fairest flowersJ
The merest grassK
Along the roadside where we passK
Lichen and moss and sturdy weedH
Tell of His love who sends the dewL
The rain and sunshine tooL
To nourish one small seedH
