Birchington Churchyard Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFE

A lowly hill which overlooks a flatA
Half sea half country sideB
A flat shored sea of low voiced creeping tideB
Over a chalky weedy matA
-
A hill of hillocks flowery and kept greenC
Round Crosses raised for hopeD
With many tinted sunsets where the slopeD
Faces the lingering western sheenC
-
A lowly hope a height that is but lowE
While Time sets solemnlyF
While the tide rises of EternityF
Silent and neither swift nor slowE
