My Dream Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB CBAADDADAA ADAEAFFEFFGHHGIIGJIA KIIJALLAAMAMANAN AAA

Hear now a curious dream I dreamed last nightA
Each word whereof is weighed and sifted truthB
-
I stood beside Euphrates while it swelledC
Like overflowing Jordan in its youthB
It waxed and coloured sensibly to sightA
Till out of myriad pregnant waves there welledA
Young crocodiles a gaunt blunt featured crewD
Fresh hatched perhaps and daubed with birthday dewD
The rest if I should tell I fear my friendA
My closest friend would deem the facts untrueD
And therefore it were wisely left untoldA
Yet if you will why hear it to the endA
-
Each crocodile was girt with massive goldA
And polished stones that with their wearers grewD
But one there was who waxed beyond the restA
Wore kinglier girdle and a kingly crownE
Whilst crowns and orbs and sceptres starred his breastA
All gleamed compact and green with scale on scaleF
But special burnishment adorned his mailF
And special terror weighed upon his frownE
His punier brethren quaked before his tailF
Broad as a rafter potent as a flailF
So he grew lord and master of his kinG
But who shall tell the tale of all their woesH
An execrable appetite aroseH
He battened on them crunched and sucked them inG
He knew no law he feared no binding lawI
But ground them with inexorable jawI
The luscious fat distilled upon his chinG
Exuded from his nostrils and his eyesJ
While still like hungry death he fed his mawI
Till every minor crocodile being deadA
And buried too himself gorged to the fullK
He slept with breath oppressed and unstrung clawI
Oh marvel passing strange which next I sawI
In sleep he dwindled to the common sizeJ
And all the empire faded from his coatA
Then from far off a wing d vessel cameL
Swift as a swallow subtle as a flameL
I know not what it bore of freight or hostA
But white it was as an avenging ghostA
It levelled strong Euphrates in its courseM
Supreme yet weightless as an idle moteA
It seemed to tame the waters without forceM
Till not a murmur swelled or billow beatA
Lo as the purple shadow swept the sandsN
The prudent crocodile rose on his feetA
And shed appropriate tears and wrung his handsN
-
What can it mean you ask I answer notA
For meaning but myself must echo WhatA
And tell it as I saw it on the spotA
