Lyra EucharisticaA
-
-
I am pale with sick desireB
For my heart is far awayC
From this world's fitful fireB
And this world's waning dayC
In a dream it overleapsD
A world of tedious illsD
To where the sunshine sleepsD
On th' everlasting hillsD
Say the Saints There Angels ease usD
Glorified and whiteE
They say We rest in JesusD
Where is not day nor nightE
-
My Soul saith I have soughtF
For a home that is not gainedG
I have spent yet nothing boughtH
Have laboured but not attainedG
My pride strove to rise and growI
And hath but dwindled downJ
My love sought love and loI
Hath not attained its crownJ
Say the Saints Fresh Souls increase usD
None languish nor recedeK
They say We love our JesusD
And He loves us indeedK
-
I cannot rise aboveL
I cannot rest beneathM
I cannot find out LoveL
Nor escape from DeathN
Dear hopes and joys gone byO
Still mock me with a nameP
My best belov d dieO
And I cannot die with themQ
Say the Saints No deaths decrease usD
Where our rest is gloriousD
They say We live in JesusD
Who once di d for usD
-
Oh my Soul she beats her wingsD
And pants to fly awayC
Up to immortal ThingsD
In the Heavenly dayC
Yet she flags and almost faintsD
Can such be meant for meR
Come and see say the SaintsD
Saith Jesus Come and seeR
Say the Saints His Pleasures please usD
Before God and the LambS
Come and taste My Sweets saith JesusD
Be with Me where I amS
