A Fisher-wife Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH

The soonest mended nothing saidA
And help may rise from east or westB
But my two hands are lumps of leadA
My heart sits leaden in my breastB
-
O north wind swoop not from the northC
O south wind linger in the southD
Oh come not raving raging forthC
To bring my heart into my mouthD
-
For I've a husband out at seaE
Afloat on feeble planks of woodF
He does not know what fear may beE
I would have told him if I couldF
-
I would have locked him in my armsG
I would have hid him in my heartH
For oh the waves are fraught with harmsG
And he and I so far apartH
