I rememberA
Looking into your blue green eyesB
Beautiful as the skyC
Wondering how far this could goD
But how could I knowD
-
We were taking it slow and IC
You kissed meE
Like it was the only thing you could think about this whole timeF
You told me Goodnight beautiful while you waved goodbyeC
And I wondered if maybeE
You really could be mineG
-
Because once upon a time in a young and naive mindH
I saw eternity behind your blue green eyesB
-
What s worse is that I knew it was a stupid thing to thinkI
Things like that are how I d end up drowning myself in drinksJ
-
And even though you haven t left yetK
I can feel it comingL
The warm summer air is ruined as winter makes it way by stormM
And I will suddenly not be able to find my positive cheery formM
-
The night won t mean much when there s only tearsN
Tears that cover these pagesO
Tears trying to cherish every little thing that may be forsakenP
-
I look at the messages as I wait for one backQ
My mom tells me that a boy shouldn t make me this sadR
And I know she s rightS
I know that I have better things to do with my lifeT
But damn it all I just wish i could ve fixed itU
Before I ruined itU
-
All I wanted was you close to me all the timeF
When you told me you wanted space it was fineG
Even though I knew before you said it that it was going to kill me on the insideV
-
-
But what does it matterA
I m still here and you haven t leftW
I should be gratefulX
But why is this gratefulness not feltY
-
I m not getting what I needZ
But anyone who knows me knows I won t leaveA2
Because no matter what I will always think back to the timeF
In my young and naive mindH
When I saw eternity behind you blue green eyesB

Poet's note: Once again, I've written this poem for a boy who I fear may be leaving soon. I wanted to express a bitter feeling of knowing that he won't stay around for much longer even though the last thing I want is him gone. This poem is merely one step closer to accepting that not everything beautiful and great can stay.
