Rhyme Scheme: ABACDD EFEGHH IJKHLL MNMOPP QRQRST UAVAWU FXGXHH

Where shall my wondering soul beginA
How shall I all to heaven aspireB
A slave redeemed from death and sinA
A brand plucked from eternal fireC
How shall I equal triumphs raiseD
Or sing my great Deliverer's praiseD
-
O how shall I the goodness tellE
Father which thou to me hast showedF
That I a child of wrath and hellE
I should be called a child of GodG
Should know should feel my sins forgivenH
Blest with this antepast of heavenH
-
And shall I slight my Father's loveI
Or basely fear his gifts to ownJ
Unmindful of his favours proveK
Shall I the hallowed cross to shunH
Refuse his righteousness to impartL
By hiding it within my heartL
-
No though the ancient dragon rageM
And call forth all his host to warN
Though earth's self righteous sons engageM
Them and their god alike I dareO
Jesus the sinner's friend proclaimP
Jesus to sinners still the sameP
-
Outcasts of men to you I callQ
Harlots and publicans and thievesR
He spreads his arms to embrace you allQ
Sinners alone his grace receivesR
No need of him the righteous haveS
He came the lost to seek and saveT
-
Come O my guilty brethren comeU
Groaning beneath your load of sinA
His bleeding heart shall make you roomV
His open side shall take you inA
He calls you now invites you homeW
Come O my guilty brethren comeU
-
For you the purple current flowedF
In pardons from his wounded sideX
Languished for you the eternal GodG
For you the Prince of glory diedX
Believe and all your sin's forgivenH
Only believe and yours is heavenH
