Rhyme Scheme: AABCCD EEFGHI BBJKKL MMBBBB NOAEEA JPMQRM

Stupendous love of God most highA
He comes to meet us from the skyA
In mildest majestyB
Full of unutterable graceC
He calls the weary burdened raceC
'Come all for help to me 'D
-
Tired with the greatness of my wayE
From him I would no longer strayE
But rest in Jesus haveF
Weary of sin from sin would ceaseG
Weary of mine own righteousnessH
And stoop myself to saveI
-
Weary of passions unsubduedB
Weary of vows in vain renewedB
Of forms without the powerJ
Of prayers and hopes complaints and groansK
My fainting soul in silence ownsK
I can hold out no moreL
-
Beneath this mountain load of griefM
Of guilt and desperate unbeliefM
Jesus thy creature seeB
With all my nature's weight oppressedB
I sink I die for want of restB
Yet cannot come to theeB
-
Mine utter helplessness I feelN
But thou who gav'st the feeble willO
The effectual grace supplyA
Be thou my strength my light my wayE
And bid my soul the call obeyE
And to thy bosom flyA
-
Fulfil thine own intense desireJ
And now into my heart inspireP
The power of faith and loveM
Then Saviour then to thee I comeQ
And find on earth the life the homeR
The rest of saints aboveM
