With the light just quenched in their eyesB
They lie in their graves 'neath the skiesB
And the fresh clod restsC
Heavy upon their breastsC
The white rose diesB
Upon the new made mound and underneathD
The lily shrivels in the shriveling handE
Pale guests of sovereign DeathF
They sought their silent beds at his commandE
And it seemsG
Strange that their life long dreamsG
Shall find them no more never bid them ariseB
And go forth with a glory in their eyesB

-
Still voiceless coldH
They lie in their shrouds and holdH
The crumbling links that makeI
A chain for Memory's sakeI
Broken alas too soonJ
Blithe morn and brazen noonJ
And eve with garb of gray and goldH
Know them no more in the dark ways they takeI
They have forgot the sunK
And the fiery worlds that runK
About it Something what let no man sayL
Begot of mystery is in mystery doneK
The rest shall be with them and God alwayM
