The Eagle And The Flower Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCB DEFFE GHIIJ BBDDB DEDDE

The eyrie clung to the shattered cliffA
That the glacier's torrent thundered underB
And the unfledged eaglet's lifted eyeC
Looked out on the world of peak and skyC
In silent wonderB
-
The mountain daisy dainty whiteD
That grew by the side of the lofty eyrieE
Saw the young wings beat on the eagle's breastF
And the restless eyes in the fagot nestF
Grow grim and fieryE
-
The days went by and the wings grew strongG
And the crag built home was at last desertedH
But close to the nest that her love had leftI
The daisy clung to the rocky cleftI
Half broken heartedJ
-
The days went by and the wan white flowerB
Waited and watched in the autumn weatherB
Far down the valley far up the heightD
The forest blazed and a wizard lightD
Crowned hill and heatherB
-
And he came at last one eventideD
His breast was pierced and his plumes were goryE
For home is best when we come to dieD
And we love the love that our youth puts byD
And there's my storyE
