Midsummer Noon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

Through shimmering skies the big clouds slowly sailA
A faint breeze lingers in the rustling beechB
Atop the withered oak with vagrant speechB
The brawling crows call down the sleepy valeA
Unseen the glad cicadas trill their taleA
Of deep content in changeless vibrant screechB
And where the old fence rambles out of reachB
The drowsy lizard hugs the shaded railA
Warm odors from the hayfield wander byC
Afar the homing reaper's noontide tuneD
Floats on the mellow stillness like a sighC
One butterfly ghost of a vanished JuneD
Soars dimly where in realms of purple skyC
Dips the wan crescent of the vapory moonD
