To Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDCDB EFGDGDF HBIDIDB JDKDKDD LDCDCDD

Come not in terrors clad to claimA
An unresisting preyB
Come like an evening shadow DeathC
So stealthily so silentlyD
And shut mine eyes and steal my breathC
Then willingly O willinglyD
With thee I'll go awayB
-
What need to clutch with iron graspE
What gentlest touch may takeF
What need with aspect dark to scareG
So awfully so terriblyD
The weary soul would hardly careG
Call'd quietly call'd tenderlyD
From thy dread power to breakF
-
'Tis not as when thou markest outH
The young the blest the gayB
The loved the loving they who dreamI
So happily so hopefullyD
Then harsh thy kindest call may seemI
And shrinkingly reluctantlyD
The summon'd may obeyB
-
But I have drunk enough of lifeJ
The cup assign'd to meD
Dash'd with a little sweet at bestK
So scantily so scantilyD
To know full well that all the restK
More bitterly more bitterlyD
Drugg'd to the last will beD
-
And I may live to pain some heartL
That kindly cares for meD
To pain but not to bless O DeathC
Come quietly come lovinglyD
And shut mine eyes and steal my breathC
Then willingly O willinglyD
I'll go away with theeD
