Overnight, A Rose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGHIHJKHKHLML| That overnight a rose could come | A |
| I one time did believe | B |
| For when the fairies live with one | C |
| They wilfully deceive | B |
| But now I know this perfect thing | D |
| Under the frozen sod | E |
| In cold and storm grew patiently | F |
| Obedient to God | E |
| My wonder grows since knowledge came | G |
| Old fancies to dismiss | H |
| And courage comes Was not the rose | I |
| A winter doing this | H |
| Nor did it know the weary while | J |
| What color and perfume | K |
| With this completed loveliness | H |
| Lay in that earthly tomb | K |
| So maybe I who cannot see | H |
| What God wills not to show | L |
| May some day bear a rose for Him | M |
| It took my life to grow | L |
