Rhyme Scheme: ABC DBE FGB HIJ KLM NOO PPB

There was a woman tore off a red velvet gownA
And slashed the white skin of her right shoulderB
And a crimson zigzag wrote a finger nail hurryC
-
There was a woman spoke six short wordsD
And quit a life that was old to herB
For a life that was newE
-
There was a woman swore an oathF
And gave hoarse whisper to a prayerG
And it was all overB
-
She was a thief and a whore and a kept womanH
She was a thing to be used and played withI
She wore an ancient scarlet sashJ
-
The story is thin and waveringK
White as a face in the first apple blossomsL
White as a birch in the snow of a winter moonM
-
The story is never toldN
There are white lips whisper aloneO
There are red lips whisper aloneO
-
In the cool of the old wallsP
In the white of the old wallsP
The red song is overB
