Waiting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF GHIJK LCMNOPQCToday I will let the old boat stand | A |
Where the sweep of the harbor tide comes in | B |
To the pulse of a far deep steady sway | C |
And I will rest and dream and sit on the deck | D |
Watching the world go by | E |
And take my pay for many hard days gone I remember | F |
- | |
I will choose what clouds I like | G |
In the great white fleets that wander the blue | H |
As I lie on my back or loaf at the rail | I |
And I will listen as the veering winds kiss me and fold me | J |
And put on my brow the touch of the world's great will | K |
- | |
Daybreak will hear the heart of the boat beat | L |
Engine throb and piston play | C |
In the quiver and leap at call of life | M |
To morrow we move in the gaps and heights | N |
On changing floors of unlevel seas | O |
And no man shall stop us and no man follow | P |
For ours is the quest of an unknown shore | Q |
And we are husky and lusty and shouting gay | C |
