Near Keokuk Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEBFGFHIJKL

THIRTY TWO Greeks are dipping their feet in a creekA
Sloshing their bare feet in a cool flow of clear waterB
All one midsummer day ten hours the GreeksC
stand in leather shoes shoveling gravelD
Now they hold their toes and anklesE
to the drift of running waterB
Then they go to the bunk carsF
and eat mulligan and prune sauceG
Smoke one or two pipefuls look at the starsF
tell smutty storiesH
About men and women they have knownI
countries they have seenJ
Railroads they have builtK
and then the deep sleep of childrenL
