Knucks Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHEIJ KLMEAAE ENEOEP EO IQERS EECT

In Abraham Lincoln's cityA
Where they remember his lawyer's shingleB
The place where they brought himC
Wrapped in battle flagsD
Wrapped in the smoke of memoriesE
From Tallahassee to the YukonF
The place now where the shaft of his tombG
Points white against the blue prairie domeH
In Abraham Lincoln's city I saw knucksE
In the window of Mister Fischman's second hand storeI
On Second StreetJ
-
I went in and asked How muchK
Thirty cents apiece answered Mister FischmanL
And taking a box of new ones off a shelfM
He filled anew the box in the showcaseE
And said incidentally most casuallyA
And incidentallyA
I sell a carload a month of theseE
-
I slipped my fingers into a set of knucksE
Cast iron knucks molded in a foundry patternN
And there came to me a set of thoughts like theseE
Mister Fischman is for Abe and the malice to none stuffO
And the street car strikers and the strike breakersE
And the sluggers gunmen detectives policemenP
-
Judges utility heads newspapers priests lawyersE
They are all for Abe and the malice to none stuffO
-
I started for the doorI
Maybe you want a lighter pairQ
Came Mister Fischman's voiceE
I opened the door and the voice againR
You are a funny customerS
-
Wrapped in battle flagsE
Wrapped in the smoke of memoriesE
This is the place they brought himC
This is Abraham Lincoln's home townT
