Birdsong Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFDGHIJK LMNOPQRSTUVWPX

I am eagle don't be fooled by red silkA
heels that sound so much like clanking clayB
on hardwood floors where you and I one nightC
did lay when there was no heat leftD
to warm a chilling breastE
when your dense chest fell wet on mineF
I found a feather when you leftD
it lay upon a pillow drenched in youG
Perhaps it was inside It matters notH
as I have since then eaten itI
and cannot prove to you thatJ
it did in fact existK
-
Before I'd ever heard your nameL
or pictured how you might have lookedM
before I'd seen your constant faceN
the one that waits inside dark eyesO
to see if I can truly fly or if insteadP
you might just plant my pinioned feetQ
into your waxy wood grained floorboardsR
making plumage turn to twigs that dangleS
down a perfect fruit which you could pluckT
from your soft bed while I grew old and wearyU
but I was eagle I grew light and wildV
long before I'd brushed your flesh these wingsW
had taken me to heights much higher than those redP
silk shoes those platforms to your dreamworldX
