Rhyme Scheme: A BCDEFGEHIHIHHJKJLMHWhy art thou cast down O my soul Psalm | A |
- | |
Down from twilight into dark at noon | B |
through darker down until the black | C |
could not be more devoid of star | D |
or sunlight o my soul near freezing | E |
in sub photic stillness past | F |
the fragile strands of glowing jelly | G |
radiant with tentacles to sting | E |
and bioluminescent lures of anglers | H |
down where water beading on the cold hatch | I |
overhead has sheathed in dewdrops | H |
the titanium past dragonfish | I |
with nightlights set into their heads | H |
and flanks past unlit cruisers | H |
blackcod owl fish eelpout skate | J |
where spider crabs arms long as mine | K |
on creamy prongs drift floodlit | J |
over the pillow lava here | L |
our craft has taken us where no one | M |
could have come till now but corpses | H |
