| was without you | B |
| - | |
| You were a lonely butterfly gliding among | C |
| the empty meadow | D |
| We first met as kids in church | E |
| the corridor at the end of the stairs was our | F |
| quiet corner from where we would look down at the busy road and argue which car | G |
| was ours | H |
| - | |
| You would try to thrutch your head through | B |
| the window protector | F |
| and as always I would want to show you | B |
| how better at thrutching I was than you | B |
| then my head would stick to it and you would as always laugh at how big my head was | I |
| - | |
| Slowly like nestlings we became a flock of our own | J |
| I remember how we would bang at the | K |
| uncouth old man's door | L |
| and run away like scared rats when he opens the door | L |
| I remember being the victim of his hard whoops | M |
| - | |
| Every Saturday evening I would walk you down to your castle | N |
| and we would talk about all your luxurious | O |
| activities during the week | P |
| and the half glass of water I had to drink | Q |
| during the week | P |
| You used to say that you felt the most comfortable with the way I made you | B |
| laugh | R |
| Soon we had to watch those evenings | S |
| walk passed us like calm breeze | T |
| - | |
| February was a Saturday I would | U |
| never let to slip out of my memories | T |
| I told you goodbye | V |
| but you turned bright pink as you asked me | W |
| won't you kiss me | W |
| My lips didn't wait to tell you yes with the next action | X |
| at that moment there was no cage standing | Y |
| next to my shoulders | H |
| no weight gravity lost memory of me | W |
| in my mind I was floating in the quietness | O |
| of space nothing can separate us now | Z |
| - | |
| But then days walked out of the door | L |
| and days came in and we had to walk away | A2 |
| from each other | F |
| big birds now we no longer need the other | F |
| to fly we thought | B2 |
| - | |
| You told me I would come back to you | B |
| And I waited like a watchman waiting for | L |
| sunrise | C2 |
| You called me weeks later to tell me you | B |
| are now in college | D2 |
| Congratulations' escaped out of my sad heart | E2 |
| in my heart I began to wonder | F |
| how Saturday evenings would be now | Z |
| who would hold my hand while crossing the | K |
| busy road | F2 |
| who would love me like you did | G2 |
| - | |
| I was an empty boat at the middle of a wide | H2 |
| ocean | X |
| like a flower in a once garden now turned desert I begged for water | F |
| - | |
| Then you came back to me but not alone | J |
| you came back with a boy | I2 |
| and I smiled like I meant it like I was happy | W |
| but I wasn't | J2 |
| - | |
| Now we are big birds you are the flock bird | K2 |
| with a stronger bird by your side | H2 |
| I am the lone eagle who decides to write this poem for you | B |
| Now the uncouth old man doesn't have to | B |
| worry about getting my ass whooped | L2 |
| he can go to sleep now | Z |
| The window protectors are missing our heads they ask me of you and I tell them | M2 |
| you're on your way | A2 |
| - | |
| These scars you see on my skin are not from crawling my way out of the thorns of | N2 |
| loneliness even if I am | O2 |
| these scars you see on my skin they are from me flying without you | B |
