Down the world with MarnaA
That's the life for meB
Wandering with the wandering windC
Vagabond and unconfinedC
Roving with the roving rainA
Its unboundaried domainA
Kith and kin of wander kindC
Children of the seaB
-
Petrels of the sea driftD
Swallows of the leaB
Arabs of the whole wide girthE
Of the wind encircled earthE
In all climes we pitch our tentsF
Cronies of the elementsG
With the secret lords of birthE
Intimate and freeB
-
All the seaboard knows usH
From Fundy to the KeysI
Every bend and every creekJ
Of abundant ChesapeakeJ
Ardise hills and Newport covesK
And the far off orange grovesK
Where Floridian oceans breakL
Tropic tiger seasI
-
Down the world with MarnaA
Tarrying there and hereM
Just as much at home in SpainA
As in Tangier or TouraineA
Shakespeare's Avon knows us wellN
And the crags of Neufch telN
And the ancient Nile is fainA
Of our coming nearO
-
Down the world with MarnaA
Daughter of the airP
Marna of the subtle graceQ
And the vision in her faceQ
Moving in the measures trodR
By the angels before GodR
With her sky blue eyes amazeS
And her sea blue hairP
-
Marna with the trees' lifeT
In her veins a stirU
Marna of the aspen heartV
Where the sudden quivers startV
Quick responsive subtle wildW
Artless as an artless childW
Spite of all her reach of artV
Oh to roam with herU
-
Marna with the wind's willX
Daughter of the seaB
Marna of the quick disdainA
Starting at the dream of stainA
At a smile with love aglowY
At a frown a statued woeY
Standing pinnacled in painA
Till a kiss sets freeB
-
Down the world with MarnaA
Daughter of the fireU
Marna of the deathless hopeZ
Still alert to win new scopeZ
Where the wings of life may spreadA2
For a flight unhazardedA2
Dreaming of the speech to copeZ
With the heart's desireU
-
Marna of the far questA2
After the divineA
Striving ever for some goalB2
Past the blunder god's controlB2
Dreaming of potential yearsC2
When no day shall dawn in fearsC2
That's the Marna of my soulB2
Wander bride of mineA
