Resignation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFGEFG

When I am only fit to go to bedA
Or hobble out to sit within the sunB
Ring down the curtain say the play is doneB
And the last petals of the poppy shedA
-
I do not want to live when I am oldC
I have no use for things I cannot loveD
And when the day that I am talking ofD
Which God forfend is come it will be coldC
-
But if there is another place than thisE
Where all the men will greet me as Old ManF
And all the women wrap me in a smileG
Where money is more useless than a kissE
And good wine is not put beneath the banF
I will go there and stay a little whileG
