Rhyme Scheme: ABCDED FGHIJKLMN| When I have fears that I may cease to be | A |
| Before my pen has gleaned my teening brain | B |
| Before high piled books in charactery come to existence | C |
| Before my words steam from them pages opening | D |
| And vapours into world men's highs | E |
| Before I go dry and stop the penning | D |

| When I behold say am downing my pen and books | F |
| I'll be satisfied still that they saw my works | G |
| I'll say I shared my mind and asset with thy world | H |
| Then I'll deem myself an achiever | I |
| Who said and was heard | J |
| Who penned and stained all's minds | K |
| And shall forever be in memory of all I wrote to | L |
| But now | M |
| Till love and fame in nothingness do sink | N |
