Farewell is much too sighful forF
An age that has not time to sighG
We say I'll see you later orF
Good byG
-
When warned by chanticleer you goH
From her to whom you owe devoirF
Say not 'good by ' she laughs butI
'Au Revoir '-
-
Thus from the garden are you spedJ
And Juliet were the first to tellK
You you were silly if you saidJ
FarewellK
-
Farewell meant long ago beforeF
It crept tear spattered into songL
Safe voyage Pleasant journey orF
So longL
-
But gone its cheery old time ringM
The poets made it rhyme with knellK
Joined it became a dismal thingM
FarewellK
-
Farewell into the lover's soulN
You see Fate plunge the fatal ironO
All poets use it It's the wholeN
Of ByronP
-
I only feel farewell said heQ
And always fearful was the tellingM
Lord Byron was eternallyQ
FarewellingM
-
Farewell A dismal word 'tis trueF
And why not tell the truth about itR
But what on earth would poets doF
Without itR
