Bygones Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FDFD GHGH IEIE CBCB

Or ever a lick of Art was doneA
Or ever a one to careB
I was a Purple PolygonC
And you were a Sky Blue SquareB
-
You yearned for me across a voidD
For I lay in a different planeE
I'd set my heart on a Red RhomboidD
And your sighing was in vainE
-
You pined for me as well I knewF
And you faded day by dayD
Until the Square that was heavenly BlueF
Had paled to an ashen greyD
-
A myriad years or less or moreG
Have softly fluttered byH
Matters are much as they were beforeG
Except 'tis I that sighH
-
I yearn for you but I have no chanceI
You lie in a different planeE
I break my heart for a single glanceI
And I break said heart in vainE
-
And ever I grow more pale and wanC
And taste your old despairB
When I was a Purple PolygonC
And you were a Sky Blue SquareB
