Rhyme Scheme: ABCADCEEFGGF HIHJKJEELFMMNF OLPOQLEEFRRF

Scrape the bottom of the hole gather up the stuffA
Fossick in the crannies lest you leave a grainB
behindC
Just another shovelful and that'll be enoughA
Now we'll take it to the bank and see what we canD
findC
Give the dish a twirl aroundE
Let the water swirl aroundE
Gently let it circulate there's music in the swishF
And the tinkle of the gravelG
As the pebbles quickly travelG
Around in merry circles on the bottom of the dishF

Ah if man could only wash his life if he only couldH
Panning off the evil deeds keeping but theI
goodH
What a mighty lot of digger's dishes would be soldJ
Though I fear the heap of tailings would be greaterK
than the goldJ
Give the dish a twirl aroundE
Let the water swirl aroundE
Man's the sport of circumstance however he mayL
wishF
Fortune are you there nowM
Answer to my prayer nowM
And drop a half ounce nugget in the bottom ofN
the dishF

Gently let the water lap keep the corners dryO
That's about the place the gold will generally stayL
What was that bright particle that just thenP
caught my eyeO
I fear me by the look of things 'twas only yellowQ
clayL
Just another twirl aroundE
Let the water swirl aroundE
That's the way we rob the river of its golden fishF
What's that can't we snare a oneR
Don't say that there's ne'er a oneR
Bah there's not a colour in the bottom of the dishF
