Tis a song of the Never Never land	A
Set to the tune of a scorching gale	B
On the sandhills red	C
When the grasses dead	C
Loudly rustle and bow the head	C
To the breath of its dusty hail	B

Where the cattle trample a dusty pad	D
Across the never ending plain	E
And come and go	F
With muttering low	F
In the time when the rivers cease to flow	F
And the Drought King holds his reign	E

When the fiercest piker who ever turned	G
With lowered head in defiance proud	H
Grown gaunt and weak	I
Release doth seek	I
In vain from the depths of the slimy creek	I
His sepulchre and his shroud	H

His requiem sung by an insect host	J
Born of the pestilential air	K
That seethe and swarm	L
In hideous form	L
Where the stagnant waters lie thick and warm	L
And Fever lurks in his lair	K

Where a placid thirst provoking lake	M
Clear in the flashing sunlight lies	N
But the stockman knows	O
No water flows	O
Where the shifting mirage comes and goes	O
Like a spectral paradise	P

And crouched in the saltbush' sickly shade	Q
Murmurs to Heaven a piteous prayer	K
'O God must I	R
Prepare to die '	-
And gazing up at the brazen sky	R
Reads his death warrant there	K

Gaunt slinking dingoes snap and snarl	S
Watching his slowly ebbing breath	T
Crows are flying	U
Hoarsely crying	U
Burial service o'er the dying	U
Foul harbingers of Death	T

Full many a man has perished there	K
Whose bones gleam white from the waste of sand	A
Who left no name	V
On the scroll of Fame	V
Yet died in his tracks as well became	V
A son of that desert land	A
