palms in his presenceF

has befallen the portionJ
of the poor littered onK
the faces of the holy wiritI
scribbled for this latterL
If alleluia is chorused byM
stomachs under the influenceF
of hunger anger would dictateI
the tune between and amongN
brothers and sistersO
before during and afterL
the assembly of empty stomachsP

Poet's note: The poem is about most religious gatherings in Africa. Such gatherings in most cases are assemblies of those who are in dire need of food but this need is in some quarters ignored.
