Hunger's Influence

On weekly sacred days,
grumbling stomachs,like
stranded thunder, assemble,
yet foxes in shepherd's
skin keep whispering
like Lagos whispering
palms,"in his presence
is the fullness of joy."
Is this not amnesia of
the highest order ? What
has befallen the portion
of the poor littered on
the faces of the holy wirit
scribbled for this latter?
If alleluia is chorused by
stomachs under the influence
of hunger, anger would dictate
the tune between and among
brothers and sisters,
before, during and after
the assembly of empty stomachs

Poet's note: The poem is about most religious gatherings in Africa. Such gatherings in most cases are assemblies of those who are in dire need of food but this need is in some quarters ignored.
