There Is Mercy With Thee Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDDC EEFGGF HHIJJI

Lord should'st thou weigh my righteousnessA
Or mark what I have done amissB
How should thy servant standC
Tho' others might yet surely ID
Must hide my face nor dare to cryD
For mercy at thy handC
-
But thou art loth thy bolts to shootE
Backward and slow to executeE
The vengeance due to meF
Thou dost not willingly reproveG
For all the mild effects of loveG
Are center'd Lord in theeF
-
Shine then thou all subduing lightH
The powers of darkness put to flightH
Nor from me ever partI
From earth to heaven be thou my guideJ
And O above each gift besideJ
Give me an upright heartI
