Jesus, By Whose Grace I Live Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFEGHH IJKJLM NONOPP

Jesus by whose grace I liveA
From the fear of evil keptB
Thou has lengthen'd my reprieveC
Held in being while I sleptB
With the day my heart renewD
Let me wake thy will to doD
-
Since the last revolving dawnE
Scatter'd the nocturnal cloudF
O how many souls have goneE
Unprepar'd to meet their GodG
Yet thou dost prolong my breathH
Nor hast seal'd my eyes in deathH
-
O that I may keep thy wordI
Taught by thee to watch and prayJ
To thy service dearest LordK
Sanctify the present dayJ
Swift its fleeting moments hasteL
Doom'd perhaps to be my lastM
-
Crucify'd to all belowN
Earth shall never be my careO
Wealth and honour I foregoN
This my only wish and careO
Thine in life and death to beP
Now and to eternityP
