The Wicked Guest Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AB CDEF GHH IBJKK LMK NKK KKAFar away from Africa I heard he has arrived somewhere in Asia | A |
I heard he was a prince whose crown had tentacles | B |
- | |
I heard the beauty of his tentacles will make you yearn to touch | C |
His fragrance could cause one to sneeze | D |
I heard his presence could take one's breath away | E |
I heard he toured homes offices markets and even schools only to take the breath of his hosts | F |
- | |
Then he continued to Europe for his tour where he swept even royals off their feet | G |
Then I heard the temperate African clouds could melt his crown | H |
Then I was told the black complexion and fierce looks of the African will shrink the tentacles of his crown | H |
- | |
Oh thou tyrant of a prince how did you sneak into our home | I |
How dare you prick us with your evil tentacles | B |
No your crown of thorns have no place in our abode | J |
Your presence | K |
suffocates | K |
- | |
With impunity you are snatching our joy and freedom | L |
With arrogance you have corrupted our culture religion education and all that gives us joy | M |
Indeed your presence suffocates | K |
- | |
Your new rules and norms we abore | N |
How must we continue to greet our elders with our hands in our pockets or kick our selves instead of shaking hands | K |
How can mother and child observe social distance | K |
- | |
I was told you have a crown yet I see biled thorns | K |
Bungarus multicintus how did you sneeked into our Africa and even the homes of our friends | K |
With pain and hope in our hearts we shall fight and prevail and tell yet unborn generations of our golden crown and the Corona | A |
