The Passing Of The Rose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AA BBB CCC DDD CCC BB

A White Rose said How fair am IA
Behold a flower that cannot dieA
-
A lover brushed the dew asideB
And fondly plucked it for his brideB
A fitting choice the White Rose criedB
-
The maiden wore it in her hairC
The Rose contented to be thereC
Still proudly boasted None so fairC
-
Then close she pressed it to her lipsD
But weary of companionshipsD
The flower within her bosom slipsD
-
O'ercome by all the beauty thereC
It straight confessed Dear maid I swearC
'Tis you and you alone are fairC
-
Turning its humbled head asideB
The envious Rose lamenting diedB
