And swelling sail behold her steaming fastA
With one new sun to see her voyage o'erB
With morning light to touch her native shoreC

With sailless yards a bare black hulk we flyE
See how the gale we fight with sweeps her backD
To our lost home on our forsaken trackD
Come back come backD

Come back come back across the flying foamF
We hear faint far off voices call us homeF
Come back ye seem to say ye seek in vainG
We went we sought and homeward turned againH
Come back come backD

Come back come back and whither back or whyE
To fan quenched hopes forsaken schemes to tryE
Walk the old fields pace the familiar streetI
Dream with the idlers with the bards competeI
Come back come backD

Come back come back and whither and for whatJ
To finger idly some old Gordian knotK
Unskilled to sunder and too weak to cleaveL
And with much toil attain to half believeL
Come back come backD

Come back come back yea back indeed do goM
Sighs panting thick and tears that want to flowM
Fond fluttering hopes upraise their useless wingsN
And wishes idly struggle in the stringsN
Come back come backD

Come back come back more eager than the breezeO
The flying fancies sweep across the seasO
And lighter far than ocean's flying foamF
The heart's fond message hurries to its homeF
Come back come backD

Back flies the foam the hoisted flag streams backD
The long smoke wavers on the homeward trackD
Back fly with winds things which the winds obeyP
The strong ship follows its appointed wayP
