Little boy Love drew his bow at a chanceA
Shooting down at the ballroom floorB
He hit an old chaperone watching the danceA
And oh but he wounded her soreB
'Hey Love you couldn't mean thatC
Hi Love what would you be at 'D
No word would he sayE
But he flew on his wayE
For the little boy's busy and how could he stayE

At the soberest club in Pall MallG
He winged an old veteran drinking his portF
And down that old veteran fellH
'Hey Love you mustn't do thatC
Hi Love what would you be atC
This cannot be rightI
It's ludicrous quite '-
But it's no use to argue for Love's out of sightI

A sad faced young clerk in a cell all apartJ
Was planning a celibate vowK
But the boy's random arrow has sunk in his heartJ
And the cell is an empty one nowK
'Hey Love you mustn't do thatC
Hi Love what would you be atC
He is not for youL
He has duties to do '-
'But I AM his duty ' quoth Love as he flewL

The king sought a bride and the nation had hopedM
For a queen without rival or peerN
But the little boy shot and the king has elopedM
With Miss No one on Nothing a yearN
'Hey Love you couldn't mean thatM
Hi Love what would you be atM
What an impudent thingO
To make game of a king '-
'But I'M a king also ' cried Love on the wingO

Little boy Love grew pettish one dayM
'If you keep on complaining ' he sworeB
'I'll pack both my bow and my quiver awayM
And so I shall plague you no more '-
'Hey Love you mustn't do thatM
Hi Love what would you be atM
You may ruin our easeP
You may do what you pleaseP
But we can't do without you you dear little tease '-
