Hope Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEF EEGHIIIH JJEA KKKA EELMIINM OOPQAARS

Faith may break on reasonA
Faith may prove a treasonA
To that highest giftB
That is granted by Thy graceC
But Hope Ah let us cherishD
Some spark that may not perishD
Some tiny spark to cheer usE
As we wander through the wasteF
-
A little lamp beside usE
A little lamp to guide usE
Where the path is rockyG
Where the road is steepH
That when the light falls dimmerI
Still some God sent glimmerI
May hold us steadfast everI
To the track that we should keepH
-
Hope for the trending of itJ
Hope for the ending of itJ
Hope for all around usE
That it ripens in the sunA
-
Hope for what is waningK
Hope for what is gainingK
Hope for what is waitingK
When the long day is doneA
-
Hope that He the namelessE
May still be best and blamelessE
Nor ever end His highestL
With the earthworm and the slimeM
Hope that o'er the borderI
There lies a land of orderI
With higher law to reconcileN
The lower laws of TimeM
-
Hope that every vexed lifeO
Finds within that next lifeO
Something that may recompenseP
Something that may cheerQ
And that perchance the lowest oneA
Is truly but the slowest oneA
Quickened by the sorrowR
Which is waiting for him hereS
