December's Snow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFEFDD GHGHDD IHIHDD

The bloom is on the May once moreA
The chestnut buds have burst anewB
But darling all our springs are o'erC
'Tis winter still for me and youB
We plucked Life's blossoms long agoD
What's left is but December's snowD
-
But winter has its joys as fairE
The gentler joys aloof apartF
The snow may lie upon our hairE
But never darling in our heartF
Sweet were the springs of long agoD
But sweeter still December's snowD
-
Yes long ago and yet to meG
It seems a thing of yesterdayH
The shade beneath the willow treeG
The word you looked but feared to sayH
Ah when I learned to love you soD
What recked we of December's snowD
-
But swift the ruthless seasons spedI
And swifter still they speed awayH
What though they bow the dainty headI
And fleck the raven hair with grayH
The boy and girl of long agoD
Are laughing through the veil of snowD
