The Phoenix Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABA CDED AFGF EHIH

By feathers green across CasbeenA
The pilgrims track the Phoenix flownA
By gems he strew'd in waste and woodB
And jewell'd plumes at random thrownA
-
Till wandering far by moon and starC
They stand beside the fruitful pyreD
Where breaking bright with sanguine lightE
The impulsive bird forgets his sireD
-
Those ashes shine like ruby wineA
Like bag of Tyrian murex spiltF
The claw the jowl of the flying fowlG
Are with the glorious anguish giltF
-
So rare the light so rich the sightE
Those pilgrim men on profit bentH
Drop hands and eyes and merchandiseI
And are with gazing most contentH
