Ere yon blue feasting sun god burst blood red | B |
Beneath thee slept thy prodigy O Night | A |
Aeons have ta'en like dreams their strange slow flight | A |
And vastest tiniest creatures paved her bed | B |
E'en cities sapped by the usurping spread | B |
Of her imperious waves have sunk from sight | A |
Since she first chanted her colossal psalms | C |
That swell and sink beneath the listening stars | D |
Oft as with myriad drums beating to arms | E |
She thunders out the grandeur of her wars | F |
Then shifts through moaning moods her wizard charms | E |
Of slow flutes and caressing gay guitars | D |
